Like any medication, Mounjaro can cause side effects — particularly in the first few weeks as your body adjusts. The good news is that most are mild and temporary, and being under the care of a real GP makes managing them much easier.

The Most Common Side Effects
These typically occur early in treatment and improve as your dose stabilises:
• Nausea — the most common, usually peaks in weeks 2-3 and fades
• Constipation — manageable with increased water intake and dietary fibre
• Diarrhoea — less common, usually resolves within days
• Reduced appetite — often welcome, but your GP will ensure you're eating adequately
• Mild fatigue or dizziness — particularly in the first week after starting or increasing dose
• Mild stomach discomfort or bloating
How to Minimise Side Effects
• Eat small, frequent meals rather than large ones
• Avoid high-fat or very spicy foods, particularly in the first weeks
• Stay well hydrated — at least 2 litres of water per day
• Inject on the same day each week to maintain consistent hormone levels
• Don't rush dose increases — your GP will only move up when you're ready
Rare but Serious Side Effects
Serious side effects are uncommon but include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, and severe allergic reactions. This is one of the clearest reasons to be under GP supervision: at Fylde Private Medical, you can call us immediately on 01253 207568 if something concerns you. You are never left to manage alone.
The In-Person Advantage
Online prescribers typically offer a helpdesk email or delayed video call when problems arise. At Fylde Private Medical, you can call, message, or come in. Your doctor knows your medical history and can make a clinical judgement in real time. For a medication like Mounjaro, that access matters.
