Are Private Assessments Accepted by the NHS?

Many NHS GPs and services will consider private ADHD assessments when they are conducted by appropriately qualified clinicians, based on NICE guidelines, and supported by a detailed diagnostic report. While acceptance is ultimately at the discretion of your GP or NHS trust, our reports are designed to support shared care arrangements where appropriate.

What Our ADHD Assessment Includes

• Comprehensive clinical interview (age-appropriate for children or adults)
• Standardised ADHD diagnostic tools
• Developmental, educational, and mental health history
• Parent / teacher input for children, where appropriate
• Collateral information where needed
• Detailed written report with diagnosis (if applicable)

Q1 I would like the assessment as soon as possible because I would like to use it in my workplace/ school. How long do assessments take to complete?

We understand that clients will want their assessments quickly. Our aim is to complete the report within 4-6 weeks of starting the assessment with you. There are four main appointments you will need to have; 1. screening appointment 2. clinical interview 3. mental health interview 4. feedback appointment As well as this, there may be additional interviews with informants and there are a battery of questionnaires to be completed. Our reports are comprehensive, and often exceed 15 pages. However, we are confident we can organise these appointments with our clinical team within 4-6 weeks. We also understand you may want the process to be even quicker than this. Please let the team know if this is the case, and we can do everything we can to make this happen.

Q2 Will I be able to use the ADHD diagnosis report to access medications from my GP?

Our reports align with the NICE guidelines for ADHD assessments and we have been trained to assess and write our reports in line with the NHS reports. We provide access to Psychiatry (at Fylde Private Medical) who can support you to titrate onto medication, and we have a number of GP's at the practice who can then support you through the medication process. Both of these services have additional fees attached. We believe that our diagnosis process and report is comprehensive and will be welcomed by NHS GP's, however, it is at the discretion of the individual GP practice and so we cannot guarantee they will be accepted; however, we would be happy to liaise with any GP's who have concerns or would like to speak with us.
