Dr Abhijit Das has been a valued member of the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2019. He serves as a Consultant Neurologist and Clinical Lead for the Functional Neurological Disorder Service in the Lancashire and South Cumbria Region. Known for his patient-focused approach, Dr. Das is dedicated to providing personalised and compassionate care, making him a trusted and beloved figure among his patients and colleagues alike.
Dr. Das also holds the title of Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), where he contributes his vast knowledge to the next generation of doctors. As a member of the FND and Neuropsychiatry Advisory Group of the Association of British Neurologists (ABN), and the Scientific Subcommittee for the British and Irish Association of Stroke Physicians (BIASP), Dr. Das is deeply involved in advancing neurological care and research in the UK.
Dr. Das is an award-winning neurologist with multiple patents, recognised internationally for his innovative research. He has received numerous accolades, including the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Resident Research Award and the Best Poster Award at the Dementia 2020 conference in London. His work has also been selected for the NIDRR Young Investigators Presentation at the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM-ASNR) annual conference. In 2020, he won the Glow HealthTech Prototyper Award for developing an AI-powered chatbot for neurological disorders.
Dr. Das completed his neurology training in 2009 at SCTIMST, Trivandrum, India. His dedication to advancing neurological care led him to the Kessler Foundation Research Center/Rutgers University, USA, where he participated in the Advanced Rehabilitation Research Training (ARRT) program funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR).
Beside providing general neurological care, his special interests include Functional Neurological Disorder, Stroke, and Vascular Neurology, ensuring that his patients receive the most current and effective treatments available.
With over 20 years of experience in clinical neurology, Dr. Das is committed to staying at the forefront of medical innovation. He has collaborated internationally to develop low-cost, practical medical devices, and he actively applies artificial intelligence to enhance patient care. His work in this area has been recognized with numerous awards and grants, including support from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).
